Hello is anybody there??
Dr Barry Black will preach at Second Presbyterian Church at 4055 Poplar at both 8:15 and 10:50 services on January 18th. Dr Black is the first (I believe) African American to serve as Chaplain of the United States Senate. He is a retired Navy Admiral and a much sought after speaker. He will speak on "Faith Under Pressure".
President Obama will be sworn in as President two days later on January 20th as the first African American to fill this, the highest elected office in our country and possibly the most influential elected official in the world.
Dr Black's visit was scheduled over a year ago--long before President Elect Barack Obama was considered a serious contender for the nomination. It is interesting that these two events are so close in time and how significant each is to our recent national and local history. It is suggested that you attend the early service although seating will be available at both services
John,
Thank you for the information about Dr. Barry Black. It is great that Second Presbyterian Church was able to bring him to Memphis.
